  Dr. Ballard has a kind and gentle bedside manner. My mother recently became his patient during an extended stay at RiverValley Rehab. During her admission, Dr. Ballard sat and wrote in long hand her entire very extensive medical history with patience and attention to detail. Every time I've had a concern and called his office, Dr. Ballard either answered the phone right then or called me back within a short time. My mother needed to be hospitalized during her rehab and Dr. Ballard came to see her every day to check up on her, even though he didn't have to. Dr. Ballard is also open to ideas and suggestions and will engage in lengthy discussion to solve difficult problems. My mother is an extremely difficult patient and can be absolutely ridiculously demanding and even churlish, but Dr. Ballard never loses his temper or even shows any impatience when dealing with some of her antics. He just reminds me she's very sick and he's sure she'll be a lot better as she begins to heal. ( she really is a stinker tho) So if you have a parent or friend who is admitted to RiverValley Rehab and you have Dr Ballard as your loved ones doctor, I can assure you they are in deeply caring and experienced hands.
